The Southern Counties Photographic Federation's Championships for 2019 took place on Sunday 24th March, which this year were hosted by Hungerford Camera Club. Twenty eight clubs from the SCPF took part in the PDI section and twenty one clubs in the Print section, with each club entering fifteen images into each. The three judges were Judith Parry DPAGB AFIAP HonPAGB and Roger Parry MPAGB ARPS EFIAP HonPAGB ESFIAP, both of Smethwick Photographic Society and John Tilsley ARPS DPAAGB APAGB of Dorchester Camera Club.
The print section was won by Chichester Camera Club with Southampton Camera Club as runners-up. BCG finished in 17th place. Our highest scoring image was "Bamburg Castle" by Hilary Flaxman CPAGB with a total of 13. Hilary's print was retained by the SCPF to be considered for the federation's entry to the PAGB National Championships. The Gold Medal was awarded to Jim Pascoe of Highcliffe and Infinity CC for "Dog Walker" and the Silver Medal to Ann McDonald for "Gannets".
The PDI section was also won by Chichester Camera Club and Wareham Camera Club were runners-up. However, this year saw the best ever result for BCG as we finished in 11th place out of the 28 clubs who took part, with a total of 167 marks. We beat Southampton CC, New Forest CC, Salisbury CC, Havant CC, Highcliffe and Infinity CC and Lymington CC and Fordingbridge CC, which was a wonderful achievement. Two of BCG's images scored 13 marks "Reflective Dawn" by Paul Gray and "Survival in a Harsh Winter" by Sue Dunham. The Gold Medal was awarded to Sheila Tester of Chichester CC for "A Flock of Dalmatians" and a Silver Medal was awarded to Sue Dunham for "Survival in a Harsh Winter"!
