SCPF Championships 2024

Details
Published: 26 March 2024

This years SCPF Championships took place on 17th March and were hosted by Bognor Regis Camera Club.

This is a one-day inter-club event, run under PAGB patronage, open to all member clubs and hosted each year by a different SCPF club. Three judges from outside our Federation score the images between 2 and 5. In each class they then choose a gold medal winner and each selects a “judge’s choice” image for a silver medal. The entry being up to 15 images in both the print and PDI classes with no more than 3 per member in each class.
The two clubs with the highest overall score in each section go on to represent the SCPF at the PAGB National Championships.

The judges were: Professor David Wheeler FRPS DPAGB EFIAP/d3 MFIAP (MCPF) David Smith LRPS CPAGB BPE1* (SPA) Cherry Larcombe EFIAP ARPS DPAGB BPE5* (KCPA)

Thirty five clubs entered images into the PDI section and 21 clubs entered prints. BCG entered the PDI section.

In First place was New Forest Camera Club with 181 points and in 2nd place Southampton Camera Club with 176 points.

Beaulieu Camera came 17th with a total score of 167.  This was an excellent result, as not only are we one of the smaller clubs in the Federation but we also used images from 10 different members, unlike many other top clubs with large memberships.

Three of our images were awarded scores of 13: "Bridge of Lines" by Vanessa Bateson and "Meadow Pipit with Lunch" and "Sailing Boats ICM" both by Maggie White CPAGB.

Congratulations to them and to all our members whose work was selected and helped to achieve this outstanding result for Beaulieu Camera Group.

PDI of the Year 2023

Details
Published: 07 December 2023

On 6th December Beaulieu Camera Group held our PDI of the Year competition..
All the PDIs  which had been awarded a Seal of Merit during the year were eligible to take part and a total of 62  images were included.

Our judge for the event was Gordon Brown ARPS, President of Winchester Photographic Society. Gordon's critique of each image was excellent and he explained the reasoning behind his remarks and decisions very well.  Gordon was extremely complimentary on the quality of the images and found it very hard to select the ones for the top awards.

First place and the Print of the Year Trophy was awarded to Maggie White CPAGB for "Sunrise Newtown Creek, IOW"
