Beaulieu Village Fete Saturday 28th August 2021

Details
Published: 14 August 2021

This year's Beaulieu Village Fete will be held on Saturday 28th August at 1.30pm and Beaulieu Camera Group is excited to announce that once again we have been invited to hold an exhibition of our members' work at the event.

A selection of prints from nearly every member will be on display showing a wide range of photographic genres and techniques, including those from both our new members to the most advanced workers in the Group.

Members of the Public will be invited to vote for their "favourite" and the print with the most votes will be awarded the "Bob Grier" trophy. This year's special guest, TV personality, international  wine judge and best selling author Helen McGinn, will choose her own favourite print and the author will be presented with a bottle of champagne.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Beaulieu Camera Group to showcase our work to a very large number of visitors and also enjoy a lovely afternoon at the Beaulieu Village Fete.

2021 SCPF PDI Finals Day

Details
Published: 09 May 2021

This year's SCPF Finals Day took place on 9th May via Zoom.

The top scoring images from the 56 clubs who participated in this year's PDI League were eligible for the competition. As Beaulieu Camera Group had two images which scored equal marks over the course of the eight rounds, they were both included in the total of 61 images.

These were "Danger, Flooded Ford" by Paul Gray and "Silver-studded Blues and the Voyeur" by Ian Hutchinson.

The judge for the event was Roger Hance FRPS AFIAP DPAGB BPE5*, an incredible photographer with an array of awards in National and International exhibitions as well as four Fellowships with the Royal Photographic Society.

Roger's appraisal of the images was excellent and he remarked on the superb quality of all of them. He held back 17 images and awarded a Gold, Silver and Bronze Medal, seven Highly Commended Certificates and seven Commended Certificates.

The Gold Medal was awarded to "Danger, Flooded Ford" by Paul Gray.

2021 Fordingbridge Challenge Trophy

Details
Published: 30 April 2021

This year's Fordingbridge Challenge Trophy took place on 28th April with Louis Rumis EFIAP MPAGB returning as the judge. The competition has been running since 2009 and Beaulieu CG has been taking part since its inception. Eight clubs competed, each with an entry of eight PDIs which had to be of images not used previously in an external competition. Sadly, Poole Camera Club, which was one of the original clubs, folded last year, and their place was filled by Highcliffe and Infinity PC.

The standard of images was extremely high and Louis had a hard task in separating the marks.

Beaulieu Camera Group had a very successful evening, finishing in 3rd place overall with 70 marks and with two of our entries chosen in Louis' top three. These were "Eyes on the Apex" by Paul Gray and "Grey Phalarope Eyeing up a Bug" by Ian Hutchinson.

Congratulations to all the BCG members whose images represented the Group in this competition, all of which achieved excellent marks against an array of superb images from the eight competing clubs.

2021 Newbury Camera Club Challenge Plate

Details
Published: 26 March 2021

Due to the Covid restrictions, this year's Newbury Plate consisted of PDIs rather than the usual prints. The competition, hosted by Newbury Camera Club, took place on 25th March via Zoom. Seven clubs competed for the Plate with an entry of eight PDIs each, Beaulieu Camera Group has taken part in this event since its inception about 20 years ago.

The judge for this year was Chris Hutchinson of Yately Camera Club. The quality of images from each club was excellent and this was reflected in the marks with the final results being very close indeed.

Beaulieu Camera Group had our best ever result, finishing in 3rd place with a total of 71 marks. The winners of the Plate were the hosts Newbury Camera Club with 72 marks and Alton Camera Club came 2nd with 71.5 marks.

Many congratulations to Alan Price whose image "Metropol Parasol" achieved the maximum mark of 10 and to Hilary Flaxman for "The Prize" with a mark of 9.5. Two images also scored 9, Bob Abbott's "Looking for Shelter" and  Sue Dunham's "Black and Blue".
