This year's SCPF Championships took place on Sunday 21st March and due to the Covid restrictions, was for PDIs only. Alton Camera Club hosted the competition via Zoom and the whole event was run with great efficiency and took advantage of all the benefits of Zoom. The event was recorded and also shown as a live stream on Utube.
The three judges all had vast experience in both national and international competitions and were from outside the SCPF region. The panel consisted of Howard Tate MA(Photo)ARPS AFIAP APAGB, Chris Palmer FRPS DPAGB EFIAP and Rosemary Wilman Hon.FRPS. Thirty four clubs entered the competition with 15 images each, giving a total entry of 510 and were marked in the range of 2 to 5 by each judge, giving a possible total of between 6 and 15.
New Forest Camera Club finished in 1st place with a whopping total of 182 marks. Yately Camera Club were 2nd with 172 marks and Bracknell Camera Club came 3rd with 168 marks. The gold medal for best image was awarded to John Bogle of Havant Camera Club for "Crested Tit in Snow"

Beaulieu Camera Group had a very good competition finishing in 14th place with a total of 154 marks. We finished above clubs such as Salisbury CC, Wimborne CC, Highcliffe and Infinity PC, Lymington CC and Reading CC.Our entry can be seen here with the scores to the right of the text.
Congratulations to Ian Hutchinson whose image "Silver-studded Blues and the Voyeur" was given a score of 14 and both "Green-veined White" and "Juvenile Willow Warbler with Lunch" received a score of 12.
Congratulations also to Paul Gray for a score of 12* for "Dirty Games" (one judge gave it a mark of 5) and a score of 12 for "Danger, Flooded Ford".
Hilary Flaxman's image "The Prize" also scored 12, so many congratulations to Hilary too.

We wish all our members a Happy New Year.
Our Events page has now been updated for 2021 with details of the competitions, lectures and other events.
These will take place via Zoom meetings until we are able to meet again at the School hall and members will be kept up to date with when this may happen.
It is hoped that the restrictions will be relaxed during the Spring. We will then be able to meet up again in small groups and enjoy taking photographs together to help and inspire each other again.

Despite the lockdown and social distancing due to the CoronaVirus, the Fordingbridge Challenge Plate for 2020 still took place using the Zoom app. All eight clubs took part with eight PDIs from each and a total audience of about 120 members from the clubs attended which was remarkabale, including 21 from Beaulieu Camera Group. Our thanks go to Fordingbridge Camera Club for all their hard work in making the evening a success and to Louis Rumis AFIAP MPAGB who judged and scored the 64 images during the "live" online meeting.
The Plate was won by BH Photography Club with a total score of 72.5. This was the 10th Anniversary of the competition and BCG's highest position during that time was in 2015 when we finished in 2nd place. This year we came 4th, which matched the 2018 result, in a very close fought match, with a total score of 70.

We are taking the opportunity to still have our usual PDI competitions and our Monthly competition, but also enjoying tutorials from various members in the use of Lightroom and Photoshop and we have lots of exciting projects and speakers in the pipeline.
We have a WhatsApp Group, a FaceBook page and a Twitter account where members are keeping in touch, posting images and sharing their photographic knowledge.
